About the role

Our Finance function is expanding and are in need of quality Accountants.

We have several roles available and are seeking interested Accountants with a General Insurance background. These permanent roles report through to the Head of Financial Control and are based in our Melbourne Head office.

 

The key responsibilities of the Accountant roles are:

  • Each of the available roles will have a focus area
  • Deliver professional and efficient customer service
  • Contribute to the development of business and assist in cultivating a workplace learning environment
  • Contribute to the alignment of risk and compliance management practices to Ansvar’s strategic objectives by sitting in the first line of defence

About you

  • You will have five years’ experience working in the Insurance Finance function or Insurance company Auditing experience
  • You will ideally be working towards a formal qualification in Accountancy (CPA/CA or equivalent)
  • You will be an attractive candidate if you have an IFRS17 understanding, Statutory or Reinsurance experience
  • You will have excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, possessing strong numerical reasoning and reconciliation skills
  • You will possess strong computer literacy skills, including sound knowledge of Microsoft Office suite such as Word, PowerPoint and Outlook and in particular Excel and demonstrable experience effectively utilising various Finance management systems
  • You will possess excellent people skills and proven ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, business partners and customers
  • You excellent planning and time management skills and the ability to work effectively to meet tight deadlines

About the role

The Regional Underwriting Manager plays a key role in delivering Ansvar’s Corporate Plan and Pricing Strategy. This role is responsible for the personal underwriting of medium to large size and complex cases across all lines of business. This role will support the delivery of the technical underwriting training and business development strategies to build the core business.

Reporting to the National Development Manager the key responsibilities of the role will include;

  • Undertake underwriting activities in line with the approved Pricing Strategy
  • Support Business Development strategies and initiatives to grow a sustainable and profitable business
  • Deliver professional and efficient customer service to brokers, clients and internal stakeholders
  • Assist the National Development and the Portfolio Managers in maximising the profitability of the portfolio
  • Lead, coach and support your team to embrace Ansvar’s values and to effectively carry out their roles
  • Contribute to the alignment of risk and compliance management
  • Contribute to the development of the policy wording and assist in cultivating a workplace learning environment

 

About you

  • You will have at least 10 years’ experience working in an underwriting capacity with demonstrable underwriting capability within the general insurance sector.
  • You will have proven ability to assist in the development and implementation of effective risk management strategies within the general insurance industry.
  • You will possess excellent people skills and proven ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, business partners and customers.
  • As an experienced leader, you will have the ability to coach develop and support internal stakeholders to achieve company objectives and foster a culture of continuous learning and development.

About the role

The SME Underwriting Service Officer is responsible for providing administrative and underwriting support, including accurate input of business related data for insurance policies across SME business.

The primary objective is to deliver professional and efficient service to achieve profitable premium growth and underwriting profitability in our core segments business.

Reporting to the Regional Underwriting Manager the key responsibilities of the role will include;

 

  • Provide administrative and policy support for policies across all lines of business

About you

  • At least 2 years’ experience working in an Underwriting, Contact/Processing Centre capacity

  • Strong personal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to establish rapport and negotiate with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve Company objectives
  • Strong computer literacy skills, including sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook programs
  • Proven track record of meeting KPIs/business goals and targets
  • Up to date knowledge in most aspects of general insurance including a practical understanding of commercial insurance principles, policies, pricing, reinsurance, claims and risk management.
